You remind me of the babe!
Sarah recites the infamous words: "...Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen..." An owl watches her as rain comes down and she runs home to babysit her half-brother, Toby.
Nothing seems to be fair. She suddenly makes a wish- that the goblins would take her little brother away. An owl beats against the window, the doors open-- the bird shape becomes human. It is Jareth, the Goblin King. (His stunning cape makes up for the insane eye makeup.) He makes a deal with Sarah, who is now pleading for Toby's return. If she can solve his Labyrinth in the next thirteen hours, she may have him back. If not, he will be turned into a goblin.
She goes through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, and meets up with the king in some interesting situations. He sends her a drugged peach, causing her to hallucinate a beautiful crystal ballroom. She makes her way through the crowd of dancers, as if she knows what she is looking for. The dancers part, and she sees the Goblin King in formal wear. He sweeps her off her feet and they dance, until she realizes she is running out of time and smashes the bubble-ballroom with a chair!
Eventually she finds the castle at the center of the Labyrinth, but with only a few minutes to spare. In a final attempt to keep her there, Jareth offers her her every dream. She can think only of her brother, and says the line: You have no power over me. He is forced to let them both go, and tosses a bubble (symbolic of her dreams, and perhaps his love for her) into the air with an expression of utter defeat. When she is again home, an owl is perched outside her bedroom window.
